It was a disappointing finish to Jarman Dalitz’s night when he competed in the final round of the Universal Metal Cleaners Wingless Sprint Track Championship at Speedway City, Last Saturday night, April 6.

Starting from 4th position in the opening heat, Dalitz raced into the lead exiting turn 2 on the opening lap, from there he was never headed, taking the opening heat race.

Dalitz started his 2nd heat out of position 5, and moved into 4th position early in the race. He then struggled with the handling of the car and hung on to a 4th place finishing, placing him 3rd out of the feature.

Unfortunately for Dalitz, he washed up high and made contact with Andy Maxwell at the same time he was hit from behind, pushing him into the path of the field. Dalitz was able to restart but the front axle was too badly damaged to continue, forcing him to the infield.

This result dropped Dalitz to 3rd position in the Track Championship Standings, only 30 points shy of 2nd place.

“We had a great start to the night winning the opening heat and the result in heat 2 helped us start near the front.” Dalitz said. “The incident we were involved in on the first lap was definitely unavoidable and you couldn’t really blame anyone for it. I tried to keep going but I felt the car was not going to be competitive and I decided to pull in. On reflection I should have pushed on and maybe scored enough points to hold onto 2nd but I will learn from this in the future.”

Dalitz has one more race meeting remaining for the season on the 20th of April when the Wingless Sprints compete in the final round of the NOS Racing Parts Track Championship at Murray Bridge Speedway.

Unlucky Weekend for Dalitz on Wingless Sprint Easter Trail

Jarman Dalitz competed in the 2013 Wingless Sprint Easter Trail over the weeknd, racing at Mildura on Friday Night, Renmark on Saturday Night and finishing on Sunday Night at Speedway City.

At Mildura for night one, Dalitz started 4th in the opening heat. He was up to 3rd on the start and after a few laps made his way into 2nd position, passing Kelvin Burns. He attempted to chase the leader for the remainder of the race but was forced to settle for 2nd positon.

Heat 2 saw Dalitz start from position 5 but he was promoted to position 3 when the pole position car of Chris Jones was unable to start. At the start of the race Dalitz moved into 2nd position and at the beginning of lap 2 he moved into the lead, where he stayed for the rest of the race.

Dalitz started and finished 2nd in the dash which meant he started the feature from 2nd position.

At the start of the feature Dalitz dropped back to 3rd place but quickly regained 2nd spot. On lap two Dalitz’s car hit a bump entering turn 3 launching him on 2 wheels and hitting the wall. Dalitz was able to keep going in 4th place in a badly damaged car and moved back into 3rd place. He moved up to 2nd positon when the car ahead spun bringing out the yellow flag. On the restart Dalitz was unable to keep up with the lead car, settling for a lucky 2nd place.

“We were really fortunate to come away with a 2nd place.” Dalitz commented. “I accidentally caught a rut and it threw me into the wall but I was lucky enough to keep going. It could’ve been a lot worse. We performed the best we possibly could in the heat races but when it came to the business end of the night we didn’t have it fall our way to challenge for a win.”

The 2nd night saw Dalitz compete at Renmark. Starting 9th in the opening heat, Dalitz made his way up to 2nd place in the opening 4 laps before the race was declared and re- run later. The re-run of the race saw Dalitz only make up one position, finishing 8th.

The 2nd heat saw Dalitz start from the outside front row. Dalitz was caught on the treacherous high line at the start dropping back to 3rd. However he moved back into 2nd place before the end of the race. This earned Dalitz a 4th place starting position for the dash.

Although he had a better start than 3rd placed Brad Evans, Dalitz was again caught on the outside line at the start, dropping back to 5th behind Kelvin Burns. On lap 3 Dalitz made an attempt to pass Burns, drawing alongside him before they made contact, with Burns crashing out. Dalitz was then forced out with front end damage. This result forced Dalitz to start the feature from 5th place.

A good start saw Dalitz move up to 4th in the opening lap. Dalitz was then able to move into 3rd place when a car in front spun out, bringing out the yellow flag. On the restart Dalitz then passed Brad Evans to move into 2nd place. He was unable to chase down the leader from that point, forced to settle for another 2nd place finish.

“It was another strong night for the team, moving from 5th to 2nd place.” Dalitz said. “The car had great pace in the heats, we were just unlucky. We had a good start in the dash but we were caught at the top of the track and couldn’t get on the low line. The incident with Kelvin was unfortunate and I’m glad he wasn’t too badly injured. I moved alongside him and when he turned in I was too far alongside him to back out, otherwise we would have seen a bigger crash.”

Sunday Night saw Dalitz compete in the Final night of the Wingless Sprint Easter Trail at Speedway City. The event also doubled as round 11 of the Universal Metal Cleaners Wingless Sprint Track Championship.

Dalitz started out of position 5 and was running behind Brad Evans when the driveline was pushed out the diff, leaving Dalitz without any drive. The damage from the incident was too severe for the team to repair in time, forcing Dalitz to the sidelines for the remainder of the night.

“I heard a bang during the first heat and then the engine started free revving,” Dalitz said. “At that point I decided to shut down the engine immediately to avoid any more damage to the engine, driveline and diff. It was definitely not how I wanted to end the weekend but we will regroup and try to come back stronger. A big thank you to everyone who helped out during the weekend.”

The next meeting for Dalitz will be the Final round of the Universal Metal Cleaners Wingless Sprint Track Championship, this Saturday Night, April 6.

Jarman Dalitz competed in the 2013 South Australian Wingless Sprint Title on Saturday Night, March 23 at Speedway City. The event was also the 10th round of the Universal Metal Cleaners Wingless Sprint Track Championship.

The opening heat of the night saw Dalitz start the race in position 5 and he immediately  moved into 3rd position on the opening lap. He then spent majority of the race trying to find a way past Jody Baldwin, and as a result he dropped back to 4th when he was overtaken by Joel Chadwick in the battle. However, Dalitz was able to bide his time and found an opening on the final lap of the race, taking 3rd place in heat 1.

Dalitz started his 2nd heat race from 8th position and after holding his position at the start of the race, he moved ahead of Wayne Kirley on the 2nd lap to take 7th position. Dalitz then moved ahead of Daniel Storer on lap 4 before passing Michael Keen a lap later to be in 5th position. A yellow flag in the middle of the race bunched up the field , with Dalitz moving ahead of Jason Gantz for 4th positon on the 7th lap. Dalitz then had to settle for 4th place at the finish with the top 4 cars separated by 3 tenths of a second.

The 3rd and final heat race saw Dalitz start from pole position. Dalitz got the early lead from the start but was unfortunately overtaken by Joel Chadwick on the 4th lap, leaving Dalitz to settle for a 2nd place result.

The heat race results placed Dalitz out of position 4 in the 25 lap A-Main.  Dalitz managed to get a good start moving into 3rd position in the opening lap. 3rd position was where Dalitz stayed until the 14th lap when Joel Chadwick spun towards the infield ahead of him, allowing Dalitz to move into 2nd position.  From that point Dalitz was able to maintain his gap to the drivers behind and cross the line in 2nd place, behind 2012 Australian Champion Todd Wigzell .

“To take 2nd place in the SA Title is a very good result,” Dalitz commented afterwards. “To finish on the podium against some of the best Wingless Sprint drivers in Australia is a great achievement. I’m really looking forward to carrying the momentum from this result into the final few meetings of the season.”

Jarman Dalitz and the Itz Racing team will be action again this weekend when the compete in the Wingless Sprint Easter Trail over 3 nights racing at Mildura, Renmark and Adelaide’s Speedway City.

Pair of Four’s for Dalitz in Long Weekend Double Header

Jarman Dalitz was kept busy last weekend with two nights of racing in the R.S Nance Pty Ltd. S95 Eagle Wingless Sprint. Dalitz competed in Round 9 of the Universal Metal Cleaners Wingless Sprint Track Championship at Speedway City on Saturday Night, March 9, and the Murray Bridge Wingless Sprint Championship and Round 7 of the NOS Racing Parts Wingless Sprint Track Championship at Murray Bridge Speedway on Sunday Night, March 10.

Just like the Australian Title, the Weekend started in the best possible way for Dalitz with a win from the front row in the opening heat. This time though, Dalitz took the lead from the start and withstood a mid-race challenge from Robert Heard to take the win.

Dalitz started his 2nd heat from 9th position and some aggressive passing moves along with a lucky escape when Wayne Kirley’s driveline dropped out, narrowly avoid Dalitz’s car saw him finish the 2nd heat in 4th position and secure a starting spot on the outside front row for the 20 lap feature race.

The real drama of the night happened just before the start of the Feature race. Whilst in the pre-feature hot laps session a car spun in front of Dalitz. With Dalitz already committed to the bottom of the track the only option was to accelerate past the car but unfortunately the spinning car just clipped Dalitz’s Right Rear tyre, causing a puncture.

The crew worked hard to change the tyre in the 2 minutes allowed and Dalitz was able to take up his outside front row starting position for the feature. A bad start saw Dalitz drop to 3rd place and from there he challenged Chris Ferrall for 2nd position in the early parts of the race. A caution during the race bunched the cars up but on the restart Dalitz went a little too high and dropped 2 positions to 5th place. From there Dalitz fought to move back in front of Jason Gantz and take a solid 4th place result at the end of the feature.

Moving onto the Sunday Night at Murray Bridge Speedway, Dalitz started his opening heat from 3rd place. After dropping back to 5th at the start, Dalitz made his way back to 3rd by the end of the race, overtaking Tim McAvaney around the outside for 3rd place on turn 4 of the 2nd to last lap.

Starting from position 6 for the 2nd heat, Dalitz went head to head with Ryan Jones (who was substituting for Tim McAvaney in heat 2), trading positions for the duration of the race. Dalitz managed to get the upper hand on the final lap, passing Jones on the backstraight to take 4th position.

Starting from postion 5, Dalitz dropped back to position 6 at the start before he settled into a rhythm. From there he was able to move ahead of Chris Ferrall and Greg Cunningham to take 4th spot. Dalitz made a challenge on a podium finish in closing stages but was unable to find a way past, settling for 4th place.

“It was a solid weekend for the entire team but I feel that at least a podium result went missing.” Dalitz commented. “We definitely have a lot of car speed but we need to be able to put it all the pieces together over the entire night to get the job done.  It was a great effort by the team to get the Right Rear tyre changed after the puncture suffered before Saturday Nights feature. It was unfortunate incident that’s part of racing, but it proves that our team will never give up.”

The next event for Dalitz and the Itz Racing team will be the 2013 South Australian Wingless Sprint Championship at Speedway City, on the 23rd of March, which is also Round 10 of the Universal Metal Cleaners Wingless Sprint Track Championship.

Unlucky Australian Title Run for Dalitz at Warrnambool

Jarman Dalitz took part in the 2013 Australian Wingless Sprint Championship over the 23rd and 24th of February at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway.

With 3 nights of racing seeing the entire field being split in halves over the opening two nights, Dalitz was scheduled to compete in his qualifying races on the 2nd night, Saturday, February 23.

Dalitz was drawn to start his opening heat race from the outside front row and he came away from the start in 2nd place behind fellow South Australian, Cody Atkins. From there Dalitz was working away at passing Atkins on the high line finally managing to make his way into the lead as they took the white flag. From there Dalitz took the win to open his Australian Championship challenge in a positive way.

Starting from 8th in the 2nd heat, Dalitz again used the top of the track to make his way up to 5th before dropping back to 6th position later in the race.

Dalitz started his final qualifying heat from 9th position, slowly passing one car at a time to move as high as 5th place. Unfortunately while running in 5th, his engine cut out, forcing Dalitz to stop and bringing out the caution, which sent Dalitz to the rear of the field. From there Dalitz pressed on to move back up to a 9th place finish.

The heat race results placed Jarman in pole position for the Preliminary B-Main, where he dropped back to 3rd place to gain a transfer position in the Preliminary A-Main.

Starting 19th in the A-Main, Dalitz held his position on the start after having to take evasive action to avoid a spinning car. Again the car’s engine cut out forcing Dalitz to the infield where he then re-joined the race a lap down. Dalitz then circulated for most of the race distance before he pulled infield with brake issues, scoring points for finishing 18th.

The team returned to the final night of action on Sunday night where all 95 cars nominated were scheduled to race. Dalitz was 35th in points, placing him out of position 3 for the C1 Dash.

A bad start saw Dalitz dropped to 5th in the C1 Dash, which was where he stayed for the remainder of the race. Starting from 5th for the C-Main, another poor start dropped Dalitz to 7th and was unable to find a way past the cars ahead of him, meaning his Australian Title Campaign for 2013 ended with a 7th place finish in the C-Main.

“We certainly had a fast car all weekend,” Dalitz said. “Unfortunately we lost a bunch of points with the engine cutting out which would have safely placed us in the preliminary A-Main on Saturday night, and even possibly locked us in the Championship A-Main. I was happy with the opening heat win and also the amount of positions I had managed to gain in my other heat races. I had a couple poor starts on Sunday which potentially cost me a chance to transfer into the B-Main on Sunday night, but overall I am very pleased with performance of the Car, the team and myself.

The next race meeting for Dalitz and the team will be the Double Header this Saturday and Sunday Nights, on March 10 and 11. Saturday Night will see Dalitz compete in Round 9 of the Universal Metal Cleaner Wingless Sprint Track Championship at Speedway City. Sunday Night will see Dalitz compete for the Murray Bridge Wingless Sprint Championship at Murray Bridge Speedway which also doubles as Round 6 of Murray Bridge Speedway Wingless Sprint Track Championship.

Jarman Dalitz took part in the 8th round of the Universal Metal Cleaners Wingless Sprint Track Championship last Saturday Night, February 2 at Speedway City.

Dalitz started his opening heat of the night from 3rd position and moved into 2nd early in the race and passing Shane Wigzell for the lead on the outside just before the red flag came out putting Dalitz back into 2nd. Dalitz then dropped back to 4th before 2 cars ahead spun. An incident under yellow forced Dalitz to stop but he was able to return to 2nd place before dropping back to 3rd place.

The 2nd heat for Dalitz was cancelled due to an unfortunate incident in the World Series Sprintcars which delayed the meeting while the driver waited for an ambulance. Thankfully the driver involved was ok but the crash meant the track now ran the risk of running past curfew.

As a result, the feature grid was decided by a random draw with the each driver given 100 points irrespective of their finishing position in the feature. Dalitz drew position 12 for the feature was able to make up ground during the race, finishing in 8th position. Dalitz did move into 7th before a yellow flag came out with the race being declared and positions being decided by the positions from the previous lap.

“The car felt fast all night and I felt we were very quick in the feature.” Dalitz commented “I feel we have got a good set up heading into the Australian Title. It was disappointing to have our 2nd heat cancelled but we completely understand the pressure the track is under to finish inside the time curfew and the events that took place tonight cannot always be accounted for.”

Dalitz and the Itz Racing team will now have a couple weeks to prepare for their assault on the 2013 Australian Wingless Sprint Championship at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of February.

Unlucky 3rd for Dalitz at Speedway City

548571_4181345887785_1539992355_n

It was an unlucky night for Jarman Dalitz when he competed at Speedway City’s Twin Feature night on the 19th of January, round 7 of the Universal Metal Cleaners Wingless Sprint Track Championship.

The 1st feature for the night saw Dalitz start from position 12. Renee Pestka pulled to the infield before the race begun advancing Dalitz to 10th. At the beginning of the race, Dalitz made his way through the field passing, Lucy Evans, Cody Atkins, Tim McAvaney and Joel Chadwick among others as he reached 3rd place.

An attempt to pass for 2nd saw Dalitz accidentally touch Michael Spoljaric and spin him around but Dalitz was allowed to continue in 2nd place. This was where Dalitz finished though, as he was unable to keep pace with Robert Heard in the late stages.

The 2nd feature saw Dalitz start from 3rd and he dropped to 4th behind Chadwick in the early stages before he was forced out of the race during a red light. Now in 3rd place behind Mikayla Hein, Dalitz was all over the back of her attempting to find a way around. Dalitz then allowed Cody Atkins through when he washed up high dropping back to 4th. A final lap incident between Atkins and Daniel Obst then left Dalitz with no choice but to slow down to avoid a crash dropping further back as he stumbled across the finish line in 6th position.

The results from the two feature races left Dalitz in 3rd position for the overall round points.

“The opening feature of the night really set us up for a strong result,” Dalitz said. “I had a lot of confidence in the car and I was able to drive aggressively to make up so many positions. The 2nd feature was going well and we were on course for another strong result and take the overall win, before we were caught up in the final corner incident. We know the car was really strong and hopefully we can carry our speed into the next couple meetings.”

The next event for Dalitz will be the 8th Round of the Universal Metal Cleaners Wingless Sprint Track Championship at Speedway City on the 2nd of February.

Dalitz and the Itz Racing team would like to thank the following sponsors for their valuable support, Murray Bridge Glass, Fuchs Lubricants, Fischer Motors – Murray Bridge, AutoPro Murray Bridge, Wise Crash Repairs – Murray Bridge, All Sweets and Treats – Victor Harbor, Bridge Bearings and Bolts, Speedway Performance Parts, Oz Signs – Murray Bridge, Adelaide Kart Supplies, Blenks Automotive and Performance, LMC Products, KNJ Photography, PM Race Engines, Lower Murray Grit Blasting, Brutforce Powdercoating, Cobra On Site Doors, Axcel Sports, Miegel Bros.
